Week 5 of the OEEEP Program

Hello Everyone,

We are now entering the second-to-last week of the course. Hopefully, you have completed Units 1, 2, and 3, and either started Unit 4 or are ready to begin! If you find yourself a bit behind, try not to worry too much. Instead, plan to dedicate a specific time each day to working through the Units, DLOs, and Quizzes. You may be surprised at how quickly you progress!

Safety and fire prevention are often overlooked in many horse facilities until a tragedy occurs. The resulting losses can be both financial and psychological, leaving lasting scars. This week, Dr. Susan Raymond will join us to discuss fire prevention in barns. She will provide valuable information to help keep you, your horses, and your co-workers safe, while also dispelling some common myths. Please make sure to keep 11 a.m. free this Wednesday, November 12th, if you can! The link will be posted shortly.

**DISCUSSION QUESTION:** If a barn is on fire, would your first thought be to blindfold the horses to help get them out?

Additionally, don’t forget to join me for a discussion on the horse’s digestive system and nutrition tomorrow, Monday, November 10th, at 11 a.m. You will find the link in the Questions for the Facilitators discussion area. I hope to “see” you there!

Cheers,  Cathy
